Been on here for a while now although i only check it every now and again in the hope il get someone asking to use me in their photos hehe ;) im currently looking for a job but not in modelling as i know i cant expect an instant career and should look at modelling as more of a hobbie to start of with while on the other hand having a stable life style with a job even if that job is not relevant to modelling :)

i think id be good for mascara/eye modelling as i have big eyes and long eye lashes thats just for those of you that may need an eye model. but i am keen to try all sorts! :D

	2010-01-13 Hi Jade, Thank you for your message, I'm pleased that you found the advice useful! And also that you've taken it on board! I hope there are more sensible young models out there who are also willing to take good advice!! :) I did a photoshoot for a model last night and I was discussing the dangers for models and she said she has found herself in difficult (and bordering on dangerous!) situations and has been lucky that she's been ok! She's now in her 30's and has only been modelling a few years, so if photographers attempt to take advantage of an more mature model, they're also probably going to try and take advantage of younger ones! So, I'm pleased you're being cautious! I think modelling is a difficult career to have! There are so few that truly 'make it' and make it big....outside of that, there are lot of people who struggle for their art, hoping that the big break will come for them. But living difficult lives in the meantime. I'd say that aiming to have a 'normal' career of some description (to earn a living) and then do modelling as a hobby (for some extra cash and enjoyment) would be the best way to go! IF you make it, you can always leave your job and do your modelling full-time. But at you'll have some experience in something else too, so when you're old and wrinkled (hehe), you'll have something to go back to if need be! :) It's just some sound advice that I'd would at least be considered! As far as modelling goes. I think find a photographer who's work you like (so look at their work online), and preferably find someone who has feedback on their site which is good too (like they're great to work with and the model felt comfortable and safe with them etc). You'll be able to see if they do the kind of pics you like and it's better that you approach the ones you like the sound/look of. Not to say it'll definitely be ok, but at least you are making decisions about who you work with. Set out what you will and won't do before you go to the shoot, if they're wanting nude and you say you definitely WILL NOT do it...they'll probably find someone else if that's what they wants. If you get there and they ask for something you've said you won't do, tell them NO, tell them you said you didn't and won't do it! Don't let them manipulate you into doing something you don't want to do! If you decide later on in your career you don't mind doing it, then you'll have loads of time to take those kinds of pics later! :) And definitely follow the safety tips I put up before...remember, it's your life and your safety. There will be more photographers out there who'll do the pics you DO want....if you don't like something, walk away. You can cancel a shoot too, don't feel obliged to go if you feel unsure or unsafe! Good luck and enjoy it! I love what I do, whether people think I'm good at it or not. If someone likes my work....that's a bonus, but I do it because first and foremost I love what I do! Oh, and in case you were wondering....I have a 'normal' job.....photography -for now- is my hobby! I follow my own advice too! ;) Take care! :) Me
