The following agencies and persons have been the subject of investigative TV, newspaper or magazine jounalism due to either public complaint, or DTI prosecution and so the articles may be of help to you. Before dealing with the following people or their agencies - please take advice!
Brian Evans & Mark Vella were named & shamed by The Mail on Sunday, Elle Magazine, and Sugar Magazine plus BBC UK’s Worst Agencies show. Dean Coles - Imprisoned for rape and sexual assault of teenagers aiming to become models. The three-week trial of Dean Coles, 40, ended when he was found guilty of two final counts of indecent assault. A jury at Bristol Crown Court had earlier convicted him of one count of rape, one of attempted rape and one of indecent assault. Coles, who ran the Cotswold Model Agency from his home in Rodborough, Gloucestershire, was sentenced to seven years in June 2003. Diesel Models - A Sun Woman exposé discovered mis-information and hard sell by this studio who are not even an Agency - see the Sun article online. Go Models - A recent report by Penman and Sommerlad of The Mirror found Go Models coming out top of the heap with their demands of £1,725 for pictures - see the Mirror article online. James Cudd - Spirit Group & Global Spirit Group ( GSP) , named & shamed by Financial Mail on Sunday –column “It’s your money”. Mark Paul - also known as Mark Anthony – Imprisoned for a second time, aged 38, a known paedophile from Maidenhead, Berkshire, was jailed for four years after appearing at Worcester Crown court charged with indecent assault of a small boy, having posed as a model agent & photographer. Sentenced in December 2001 for producing indecent pictures of young children and sexual assault. He also received a four-year consecutive sentence for fraud and will remain on the sex offenders' register for life. Models Direct – named & shamed by Mail on Sunday Elle Magazine and BBC Watchdog. Paul Pimley - Platinum Models Southampton - Court convicted this man of forging a 15 yrs girl birth certificate so he could work her in strip clubs, and also convicted of downloading child pornography sentenced to 4 months in August 2000 and to remain on sex offenders register for 7 years! Peter Azim - (A1, Blaze, Shades, Models International) – named & shamed by Mail on Sunday, Birmingham Evening News, Brighton Evening Argus. Philip Foster - (Prima, Desire, UK Model Management, Models inc, Modelz inc, Model Instincts), named & shamed by Liverpool Echo, Manchester evening News. Ruby Mear Models Ltd – Robin Findlay Named & shamed by BBC Hard Cash and also fined by the DTI for non- payment to workers. Ruby Mear Models Limited admits to withholding money An employment agency based in Corby admitted today that it had failed to pass on money, totalling £320, owed to two models for a photographic assignment, which the agency had found for them. Corby Magistrates' Court sentenced the company to £800 (plus £3,099 costs), following investigations by the DTI's Employment Agency Standards (EAS) Inspectorate. Vanity Model Management You should always be very wary of any company that ONLY has a web site as a correspondence address and no land address for you to visit or write to. | This is a great post and totally agree this industry needs more regulation. I come across many models that have paid huge amounts of money and got nothing in return. | ||
